Gingerbread Capital of Ontario

Hello everyone!

You might think the Vankleek Hill Fair is nothing to get excited about, but you'd be wrong! There is a 10-year VCI class reunion set for this year's fair, along with all the usual mid-way activities, the food booths, the livestock shows, 4-H shows and the Western and Light Horse Shows, along with the popular Saturday evening demo derby on August 18 ! And best of all, the weather looks  good for the entire weekend!

Coming up this Thursday, August 16, is the Vankleek Hill Softball All-Nighter, which is a three-way fundraiser for: Champlain Minor Sports, the Vankleek Hill Food Bank and the McHardy family!
Come to the Mill Street Park right next to the VKH Community Centre and cheer on the players right through the wee hours of the morning. Don't worry! The softball group has obtained an exemption from the township's noise bylaw just for this event :) so cheer as loud as you want! The fun starts at 7 p.m.

Also on Thursday, August 16, it is CUSTOMER Appreciation Day at Herb's Travel Plaza right at the junction of Highways 417 and 34 south of Vankleek Hill. Great food, fun for the kids and lots of giveaways, too! From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

ALSO COMING UP: If you live in Vankleek Hill, you could win a GINGERBREAD MAKEOVER just by completing a ballot . . . the draw takes place August 17 ! You must live in Vankleek Hill to be eligible. Visit The Review offices at 76 Main Street East or the Vankleek Hill Tourist Info Centre at 95 Main Street East to complete a ballot! No charge to enter this draw, made possible by Victorian Woodworks and the Vankleek Hill Business and Merchant Association!

Coming up Labour Day weekend, the first-ever Blues on the Hill! Featuring a great line-up of Blues musicians! The event takes place at the Vankleek Hill fairgrounds! Tickets are on sale at Bobby Lalonde Music, located at the four corners in Vankleek Hill. Watch for the complete story and performer line-up in the August 15 edition of The Review.

The Review is pleased to manage this website and we welcome suggestions to making it the most inviting online welcome and info centre in Ontario!

If you come to town, be warned that road improvements mean you could have a short wait as you pass by in front of Mike Dean's Super Food Stores and VCI. Take advantage of the wait and tune in to 88.7 FM to hear local announcements and interviews with local business owners!

Turn east at the four corners and head down to the White Palace, where a new shop, offering antiques for sale, is open for business! Good prices . . . just sayin' ...

See you at the Fair!
