During the rest of the year, you will find vendors outside in the VCI parking lot underneath the white tents!  Fresh local produce, home baking, crafts, Thai food and much, much more! Sunday, September 19, 2010 It's official! We like long lunches!!!! For the past two years, the Festival of Flavours in Vankleek Hill has featured a 320-foot-long table running the length of the town's Main Street. The event attracts thousands of people to enjoy their fill of sunshine and, of course, food of all kinds: food to eat on the spot and goodies to take home.Watch for more details as they become available. The 2010 12th annual International Food Festival, or Festival of Flavours takes place on Sunday, September 19, 2010 from 10am to 4pm. Family & Local History Day October 2, 2010
Vankleek Hill – Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Family & Local History Day 2010 promises to bring you the professionals and the information you are looking for. On Saturday, October 2nd three major genealogical forces will be in Vankleek Hill. The Ontario Genealogical Society, the Quebec Family History Society, plus Ancestry.ca will have representatives on-hand to provide the secrets and clues to finding your family history.
Local history buffs can take part in self-guided walking tours, cemetery tours, attend speakers plus have the bonus of four historic churches with their doors open: Trinity United Church, St. John and the Evangelist Anglican Church, Knox Presbyterian Church and Église St-Grégoire. You can also dig into the Tweedsmuir History Books prepared by local Women’s Institutes which are rarely offered for public viewing.

October 2 and 3, 2010
You may have read about the first-ever Oktoberfest which took place in Vankleek Hill in 2009. You came by the thousands to this event, organized by the award-winning Beau's All-Natural Brewery in Vankleek Hill. Friday, December 3, 2010 "Santa Claus is coming to Town" Parade starts at 7:00 p.m. Watch for Santa on his float! Visit with Santa before the Parade! Santa's village will be from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. at The Review, 76 Main Street East, Vankleek Hill. Santa will be on hand with his helpers and will have goodies for each little visitor! The street lights will be turned off for this Special Occasion. Come out and enjoy the Christmas Spirit.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 6, FROM 10 A.M. TO 4 P.M. Following our successful 2009 tour, home-owners are already asking to be part of our 2010 Victorian Christmas Home Tour event. We have even more new ideas for next year's tour. CLICK HERE to see slide shows featuring each of the homes of the 2009 tour.
Don't miss the chance to buy a ticket to this tour, which takes you inside FIVE of Vankleek Hill's beautiful Victorian homes. Each year, different homes are featured on the tour. Extra activities always take place in Vankleek Hill on tour day. We will update this page as information becomes available. Organizers distributed $3,000 to six community organizations, thanks to funds raised at the 2009 event. In 2010, eight organizations will each be receiving a $500 donation from this event’s proceeds. The event is organized by The Review, with support from generous community volunteers. After receiving applications from community groups and organizations, The Review is happy to announce the following groups will be receiving a minimum donation of $500:
• The Vankleek Hill Agricultural Society (the building of a new horse barn) • The Vankleek Hill Skating Club • Arbor Gallery Centre for Contemporary Art • The Vankleek Hill Fiddle and Dance Association • Pleasant Corners Public School (the building of a new playground) • École St-Grégoire (new play structure) • The Vankleek Hill and District Historical Society • The Higginson Tower Committee
The Review thanks all community organizations for their letters of application.All letters will be kept on file for consideration for other fundraising efforts undertaken by The Review in 2010.

The Review’s first ever Mystery-History Hunt winners crowned at Mill St. Park  "At left, the team that won one ounce of gold bullion by completing all of the puzzles set out in the first-ever Review Mystery-History Hunt collected their prize at Mill Street Park on Saturday, June 5 at the end of the event. The winning team is composed of Cameron McCormick, Kyle McCormick and Scott MacPherson... ...Contestants had to solve a series of seven puzzles to come up with words to insert into blank spaces in a sentence. A final set of puzzles took contestants to The Review, where they had to figure out that calling The Review’s telephone number, and using extension 1893 to leave their final solution, would make them a winner if they left the first, second or third correction solution message. Team Tolhurst, consisting of siblings Curtis, Duane and Randi Tolhurst, finished second, winning a case of wine from Strathmore Orchard in Monkland. Gilbert and his partner, Zachery Cruise, placed third and won a bungee adventure with Great Canadian Bungee in Gatineau.   |
